WSOP History
It is said that World Series of Poker started in 1970 but we surely know that it was conceived back in 1949 when Benny Binion organized encounter between two grandees in poker, Nick "the Greek" Dandolos and Johnny Moss, who played for several months without a break. Johnny Moss got the best of it.
This competition attracted lots of people and gave Benny an idea to hold a tournament in 1970s. He wanted to atmosphere of that agio and the interest which existed twenty years ago, and his wish was completely fulfilled. First World Series of Poker - this was the name given to the tournament - was held in the Binion’s Horseshoe Casino. The winner was defined by the majority of player's votes and it was Johnny Moss who won his World Champion title.
The tournament began conquering masses and gained popularity the following year. This time Moss still was the strongest and the most skilled player.
The number of players involved grew from year to year, lots of new games were included in tournament - it really developed itself. And not only itself. Many players found their fate at the table of WSOP, many lost their last hope, lots were discovered or re-opened and confirmed their merited statuses. Nothing changed since the 20th century – it still attracts the audience nowadays.
WSOP is regarded to be the oldest, the most prestigious and the largest tournament in the poker world. Almost everyone can buy a seat in it and take his chance in poker. You need either skill or money or both to achieve this peak.
The first way is to pay $10,000 dollars and play. The second is to take part in the Satellite Tournaments or in online tournaments. That’s all. Good luck and millions of winning!
